Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Arizona Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP)?
The Arizona Farmers Market Nutrition Program encompasses both the Senior FMNP and WIC FMNP and provides coupons to eligible seniors and WIC participants. Seniors and WIC participants can obtain and spend FMNP coupons at approved farmers market locations.
Who is eligible for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program?
Seniors who are at or below 185% of the federal poverty level or who are actively participating in the Commodity Supplemental Food Program. Visit our pages for Senior with Income Eligibility and Seniors with CSFP Yellow Cards for more detailed information.
Who is eligible for the WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program?
Now every eligible household member receiving WIC benefits is eligible for one $30 coupon booklet, including people who are Pregnant, Breastfeeding, or Postpartum, Children, and Infants at least 6 months old. Customers must first obtain an Eligibility Card with client-level details from their local WIC office to receive per-participant coupon booklets from the farmers market.
Which WIC Clinics can issue an Eligibility Card?
All WIC Clinics in Maricopa, Pima, Coconino, Cochise, Yavapai, and Gila County can issue WIC FMNP Eligibility Cards. Pinal County, Navajo County, and Apache County are also issuing WIC FMNP Eligibility Cards. Ask at your next WIC appointment for a WIC FMNP postcard.
What is the FMNP Match?
Through a separate funding source, in 2024 we are offering an additional $50 FMNP Match for all senior and WIC participants who pick up FMNP coupons. Match coupons work exactly the same as FMNP coupons.
What is a farmers market?
A farmers market is an outdoor temporary market, usually open once a week where local farmers, artisans, and business owners set up booths to sell their locally grown or locally made products directly to consumers.
Where do I pick up FMNP coupons?
What can I buy with FMNP coupons?
Fresh, Arizona-grown fruits and vegetables from approved vendors only. Produce labeled from outside of Arizona is not eligible to buy with FMNP coupons.
How do I know which booths will accept FMNP coupons?
Look for the flags with the AZFMNP logo clipped to the farmers' tents. Also, look for fresh, whole fruits and vegetables. If in doubt, ask the vendor or go to the information booth for help.
Why are coupons specifically for Arizona-grown produce?
Spending coupons only on Arizona-grown produce ensures that Arizona farmers are being paid by this program. FMNP is a win-win for customers and farmers alike!
Can I use my coupons at a grocery store (ex: Walmart, Fry's, Food City)?
When can I obtain coupons? When is the deadline to pick up coupons?
Coupons are available as soon as February 1st each year. The deadline to pick up coupons is September 30th, after which no more coupon booklets are given out.
Do coupons expire?
Yes. Coupons expire on November 15th every year.
Can I request coupons by mail?
Yes. Contact our office at 833-836-8253 ext 4 or email [email protected] to request coupons by mail.
Why don't you have an approved farmers market near me?
Please call us at 1-833-836-8253 or email [email protected] to let us know that you want FMNP in your area. Let us know which farmers market or farm stand would be a good fit, and why.
